Dexter was born in the Philippines. In 1985, his family traveled to the United States of America for new opportunities. His family traveled around the U.S. and finally settled in Fremont in 1986. He has been a Fremont resident ever since.
He attended San Jose State University and majored in Business with a concentration in Finance. In 1998, Dexter started his career in Oakland for The Clorox Company as an accountant and later became a financial analyst. He then moved to E-tek / JDS Uniphase in San Jose as Revenue & Sales Analyst and eventually became a Controller for a small product division within JDS Uniphase.
In 2000, Dexter started investing in real estate, and by 2006 he became a partner in Platinum Group Realty in Fremont. Two years later, he opened his own real estate brokerage, RE/MAX One Alliance in Newark and became a part of the RE/MAX network which has grown to nearly 90,000 agents in more than 85 countries. In 2013 he opened Realty World One Alliance in Newpark Mall.
Dexter has served in many real estate associations. With The Bay East Association of Realtors, he served in The Members Benefits Council, and he chaired the Diversity Task Force. In 2005, Dexter co-founded the Alameda Chapter of The Filipino American Real Estate Professional Association (FAREPA). He was the first president of the association in Alameda. In 2008, Dexter chaired the steering committee for the second Bay Area Multicultural Real Estate Summit (BAMCRES). BAMCRES included seventeen professional real estate associations in the bay area. He also serves as an officer of the Chinese American Real Estate Association (CAREA). In 2013, Dexter became the president of CAREA.
